March 6, 2020: The Office of Undergraduate Admissions has made the decision to cancel the Hesburgh International Scholars Experience (HISE). For more information, please visit the HISE FAQs.
Since news of the new coronavirus (COVID-19) became widely known in January, Notre Dame’s leadership has been working on our response to this worldwide health emergency and making contingency plans for future developments.
As always, our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our campus community - students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
With this as our guiding principle, we have made the decision to cancel the upcoming Hesburgh International Scholars Experience (HISE), scheduled for April 4-7, 2020. All airline flights booked for HISE will be cancelled. For more information, please visit the HISE FAQs.
Our team will be creating alternative opportunities for admitted students to meaningfully engage with the Notre Dame campus community. Please monitor your email for announcements regarding these future opportunities.
We recognize that this announcement brings disappointment, and our admissions team is ready to speak with anyone with questions or concerns.
More information about COVID-19 and University policies is available on the websites: Coronavirus.nd.edu, University Health Services, and Notre Dame International. Staff members in those offices are also available for questions and consultation. National resources include the CDC and U.S. Department of State. As the world continues to grapple with this evolving health crisis, we all surely will experience further disruptions. At Notre Dame, we will do everything we can to minimize those disruptions and provide as safe an environment as possible for all who live, work, teach, learn and visit here. Our prayers are with the tens of thousands worldwide who are suffering, and for the medical professionals who are caring for them.
